Species description:
Gametophytes a pale or dark green, somewhat greasy irregularly branched brittle fleshy thallus with somewhat undulate margins and blunt apices, creeping, 2-5 cm long, 3-5 mm wide, margins 1-3 cells thick but centre of thallus 10-18 cells thick, rhizoids colourless, sometimes scarce. Dioiceous. Involucre perpendicular to thallus, cylindric, somewhat hairy, very pale green to nearly white. Sporangia on thick seta, cylindric, ruptuting to reveal elaters at tips of divisions appearing in summer and not frequent.
Similar Species:
Resembling several species of Aneura, and when sterile difficult to distinguish from them.

On calcareous, usually moist sites, in fens and on cliffs, at both higher and lower elevations.Range

BC Distribution
Undoubtedly under-collected, but widespread in the province.
